On the 14th of March, Henrik Thorén will defend his PhD thesis in theoretical philosophy at LUCID. The thesis is entitled “The Hammer and the Nail: Interdisciplinarity and Problem Solving in Sustainability Science”, and is a thesis about some of the challenges and difficulties involved in interdisciplinary collaboration and problem solving in the context of the field of sustainability science. It revolves around issues surrounding the transfer and sharing of problems and its prerequisites as well as the boundaries of dicsiplines and what it means to overstep those boundaries.
The defence seminar will take place in the Ostrom Room on the 3rd floor of the Josephson building at Biskopsgatan 5, between 10:00 and 12:00 on Saturday the 14th of March. Matti Sintonen, Professor of Theoretical Philosophy at the University of Tampere in Finalnd will act as the faculty discussant. All are welcome!
